Jess and I are ringing in the New Year here in Joshua Tree amongst the yuccas, cacti and coyotes. We brought all the dogs with us – and are hoping that they’ll get in touch with their feral roots and learn to howl like their coyote brethren – but no one has broken out into song yet.
This was an adobe ruin we passed on our way to look at the “Astro Domes” along the Wonderland Wash Trail.

We also hiked along the Baker Dam Trail where they have some ancient Native American petroglyphs. We found this one behind some scrub along the base of one of the giant rocks in the area. It’s called “man with long fingers” – uh, scary? We have more photos to share, especially of a neat area called the Hidden Valley – but those will have to wait until we’re back home so I can retrieve them from my camera.
